Duncan turns 27 weeks old

Three Wednesdays ago, Duncan turned 27 weeks old. During this week, he had his 6 month checkup. Duncan weighted 19lb 8oz, measured 27.5" in length and his head circumference was 44.7cm. Duncan's length and weight have moved down into the 85th percentile range.

In can now leave Duncan alone when he is sitting up. I put the boppy around him, just to be sure he is OK. This has allowed us to bring down a whole bunch of new toys that can be enjoyed when sitting up!
Duncan really likes watching the fire in our stove. He reminds me of my Papa on holidays.
Duncan loves to interact with us by laughing, talking, jumping around, or just going crazy! Check out these videos.
Duncan and Elsie have a lot of fun playing together. Elsie helps entertain Duncan when we are getting dinner ready at night.
Duncan really laughs now when he is tickled. It is so much fun!
Duncan has been learning some new things at school, including feathers.

They still like playing with clay at school, too.
The teachers have brought out a few fun activities for fall. Duncan really liked the leaves hanging from his toy bar.

Duncan is 26 weeks old.

Four Wednesdays ago, Duncan turned 26 weeks old.

Duncan has started talking a lot about "Dada" lately! I have tried teaching him how to say "Mama," but no luck so far.

Duncan drools a lot when he gets talking!
Elsie got to visit Duncan in the Infant room this week. Duncan gets so excited when Elsie come to see him!
Duncan also has a lot of fun sitting at the big table reading books. His teachers say he has a long attention span for his age, and can sit for a while reading books.

Happy Halloween!

Elsie got to celebrate Halloween at school this year by dressing up for the "Dress up in Words" Vocabulary word parade. She was assigned the word "bells." Elsie made her own bracelets and anklets by stringing the beads onto the elastic string.
And on Halloween morning, she got dressed up as bells!
And she was very excited to demonstrate the jingling bells.
On the afternoon of Halloween, Elsie got dressed as the princess Cinderella and Duncan became a panda bear.
It was a nice cool afternoon, so our panda bear had fuzzy green paws!
Elsie was excited to go trick or treating for candy this year.
We made it to a few houses before we came back home for our first break.
And Elsie enjoyed her first snack.
Yum! Pretzels!
Then it was time to go back out for some more candy!
Duncan did a great job on his first Halloween. Our adorable panda!
Mommy's friend, Serena, was in town and came by to enjoy Halloween with us. Go Big Red!

Autumn Adventures

We have been having a lot of fun this Fall. Elsie often initiates playing "train" on Mommy or Daddy with both Duncan and Elsie piled on one of our laps for some "choo chooing."
We have been outside raking leaves. Duncan is such a content baby that he just comes along for the ride.
Elsie has gotten old enough to actually help us...when she is not running through the leaf piles.
Elsie jumped into the leaves and asked for me to cover her up and take a picture. So cute!
Our neighbor works for a museum that had a scarecrow building activity. Sandy brought over the extra materials, and we got to make a scarecrow, too!
He was prominently displayed on our front porch for the Halloween season.
Daddy cozied up with the kids for a great picture.
On Fridays, we have been having a lot of fun hanging out at the house.
We get to do something fun every Friday. This time, we went to the park. Elsie climbed up, smiled real pretty, and asked "Don't you want to take my picture?"
At a birthday party for a neighbor, Elsie learned about static electricity with a balloon!

We took this great picture one Friday to send to Daddy at work

Duncan is 25 weeks old

Four weeks ago, Duncan turned 25 weeks old.

Duncan is now a grabber! He has gotten really good at grabbing his toys, waving them around, and passing them from one hand to the next.
Look at how fast that rattle is moving!
One of Duncan's favorite toys at the moment is this soft book. It crinkles when he touches it and he loves to hear the noise.
He can lay on his back and play with this book for 10 minutes at a time!
He likes to put the book in his mouth and the crinkling can get so loud!
Here is a great video of Duncan playing with his book.
The book can even keep him occupied during tummy time!
Duncan has also started going crazy for this ball.
He uses two hands to bat it around and try to grab onto it.
Here is a video of Duncan enjoying the ball!

Duncan has also started sitting up by himself at home!
Duncan has been doing great at school.
They are still getting to go outside and experience all that fall as to offer.
He is practicing sitting at school in the Bumbo. Elsie likes to pick out the Bumbo for him to use in the morning when we drop off Duncan in the Infant room.

Arranging pumpkins as part of their artist explorations.

And every one's favorite finger painting!
